Getting to know Jesus Christ starts with a Realization and ends with a relationship. God’s desire is that you come to know him personally. He has made “getting saved” so easy; everyone can do it:
Realize that you are a sinner
This is a first and necessary step. No matter how “good” we are we can never merit Heaven.
Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; In order to accept God’s gift we must recognize that when we sin (do things against God) that sin separates us from God and has a price that must be paid:
Romans 6:23a For the wages of sin is death;
Recognize what Jesus Christ did for Us
Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Jesus Christ paid our sin debt and presented it to us as a gift:
Romans 6:23b but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Turn from your sin and turn to Jesus Christ
Repentance is a Bible word that means “to turn” or change Direction. When you turn from sin and the world and turn to Jesus Christ you will be starting with a clean slate, old things are passed away, behold all things become new. (2 Corinthians 5:17)
John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Receive Christ’s Gift
Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: 13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
Pray
We can’t pray for you, but we can pray with you. A sinner’s prayer might go something like this:
“Lord God, I know I am a sinner. I believe You died for my sins. Right now, I turn from my sins and I accept You as my personal Lord and Saviour. Thank You for saving me. In Jesus Christ’s name I pray, Amen.”
If you prayed that prayer, and really meant it, You are saved and WILL go to heaven when you die:
Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
